12/31/2022 0 Comments Disturbed 2015 immortalized download![]() A bit of the industrial synth experimentation from Device creeps into the super melodic and horrendously radio friendly “The Light” (and in the opening portions of “You’re Mine”) and the band goes for the melancholic slow burn on their cover “The Sound of Silence” that doesn’t work nearly as effectively as one would hope. Those expectations are hard to fulfill though when the rest of Immortalized careens around a bit from the hard hitting riffs, bouncing bass, and Draiman’s crooning vocals for the rest of the album. Needless to say, these tracks built up a considerable amount of expectations that blended the heavier metal elements with Disturbed’s savvy hard rock writing sensibilities. The only one that seemed to miss the mark was “Fire It Up” with its gimmicky lyrics about weed that was somewhat saved in the end by some inspired riff work from Dan Donegan. “Immortalized” featured a wicked heavy groove and bigger than life chorus, “The Vengeful One” feels like it came right off of Asylum with its slightly more complex layering, and “What Are You Waiting For” is going to be a live crowd pleaser for years to come. For context, many of these songs struck home to the classic Disturbed sound. ![]() In the hype machine leading up to the recent release of Immortalized, Disturbed released a plethora of pre-release tracks. While the results can be mixed, it’s a shocking move that deserves some respect from old and new fans alike. While many bands go back to their core sound for their comeback record, Disturbed actually seems to have continued their artistic progression in a few ways for their sixth album. Whether you want to call this comeback album just good business or renewed interest by the members in the actual musical side of their material, Immortalized is here. ![]() The various members went on to try out several side projects to varied success (the highlight being the more industrial sounding Device from vocalist David Draiman), but none of them garnered the crowds or critical praise that Disturbed had been receiving at the time of their hiatus. It was pretty obvious over the last few years that Disturbed’s hiatus from the world wasn’t going to last all that long. ![]()
